Do you need a certified copy? Certifications are sometimes requested by other agencies (e.g. for immigration or background checks). If you were not told to obtain a "certified copy", it is not likely to be necessary.

Different requestors have different priorities. Most prefer the traditional method of having any staff-proposed redactions reviewed by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for appropriateness under the law. However, some seek to obtain their information and files as quickly as possible. For this reason, we offer requestors the option to approve redactions by staff. Please understand that approving staff redactions is NOT necessary nor expected. Your selection will in no way alter staff’s handling of your request other than omitting review by the OAG. Of course, upon receipt of files redacted at staff’s discretion, you would maintain full rights to request an OAG review of the same responsive documents at any time.

OPTIONAL: Authorization of Redactions by Staff If you do not make a selection above, staff will follow the traditional route of submitting proposed redactions (if necessary) to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for their review for appropriateness under the law. Upon our receipt of your request, staff has ten (10) business days to request a decision from the OAG. Upon their receipt of our request for a decision, they are typically allotted forty-five (45) business days to issue an opinion. This time may be extended by ten (10) business days if their office deems it necessary.
