Zoning Board of Adjustments and Appeals (ZBA)

When there is an active case to consider, the Board of Development Adjustments and Appeals holds regular meetings at 7:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in Council Chambers at Town Hall (1614 S Bowen Road). 

The zoning ordinance provides for the creation of a "board of development appeals", consisting of five members who are appointed by the Town Council for staggered two-year terms. These members serve as both the Zoning Board of Adjustments and the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Board of Adjustments considers requests for variances to specific requirements under the zoning ordinance. As the Board of Appeals, they consider requests for relief from interpretations, determinations, or decisions made by staff under those requirements.
