Matt Fielder began serving as City Manager of Pantego on January 27, 2014. Matt's previous experience includes fifteen years of municipal government service. He came to Pantego from the City of Rosenberg, where he served six years as the Economic Development Director, focusing on business recruitment, business retention, and marketing. In addition, he also oversaw the Parks and Recreation Department. Prior to working in Rosenberg, he was with the City of Sugar Land, where he served nine years in economic development and the city manager's office. Matt was deployed to Iraq as a U.S. Army Reserve officer from April 2003 to April 2004.
He holds a BA degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is originally from Arlington and is a graduate of Martin High School. He is married with three children.
The Town of Pantego operates under the council-manager form of government in which the Town Council is responsible for all Town policy and the City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City. By ordinance, the powers and duties of the City Manager are:
