Animal Control and Impoundment

The Public Works Department enforces local ordinances related to domesticated animals that are abandoned, neglected, mistreated, unrestrained, vicious, or demonstrating a nuisance. Animals are held for seventy-two (72) hours. If the owner cannot be found, staff may offer animals for adoption at no cost (see below). Following this 72-hour hold, animals are surrendered to the Mansfield Animal Shelter at 612 S Wisteria Street.

No-Fee Adoptions

There is no fee when you adopt a pet directly from the Town of Pantego. Additionally, you can be reimbursed for the first set of required shots and sterilization (via spay or neuter) by submitting the appropriate documentation. Funding is provided by the Shamburger Endowment Fund.
