Mayor Pro Tem MIKE DUNCANCouncilmember Duncan was originally elected to Place 3 in May 2020, and was elected by the Council to serve as Mayor Pro Tem (2023-2024).

Councilmember Duncan brings more than forty years of professional experience as an entrepreneur, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) Senior Special Agent, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division, and an Arlington police officer. Mike holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and a BBA in Business Management from Stephen F. Austin University (SFA) — and a third-degree black belt. Mike currently serves as the National President and Chairman of the Kappa Alpha Order, a member of the Greek Life at UTA Task Force, and a Trustee of the Arlington Police Foundation.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Mayor Pro Tempore is a member of the Council who performs the Mayor’s duties in the Mayor’s absence or incapacity. The Mayor Pro Tem is selected by a majority vote of the Council from among its own membership and serves for a term of one year. The Mayor Pro Tem retains the right to vote on all matters before the Council even if currently performing the duties of the Mayor.
