Last Day to File for a Place on the Ballot for a General Election to be Held May 4, 2024

A general election will be held on May 4, 2024, for the purpose of electing Town Council Places 1, 2, and 3. On this date, polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All necessary documents can be obtained at townofpantego.com/candidate or by visiting Town Hall. Applications for a Place on the Ballot can be filed in the City Secretary's Office beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. The deadline to file is 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2024. There is no filing fee.

The City Secretary’s office is in Town Hall (1614 S Bowen Road) and office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays. The order of candidates' names on the ballot will be determined by a drawing, to be held Tuesday, February 20, at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Please be aware that, upon receipt of your Application for a Place on the Ballot, the City Secretary is allotted five (5) days for review. If an omission or error is found after the filing deadline has passed, a new application cannot be accepted, and the original may not be valid. Candidates are urged to file as soon as practicable to allow sufficient time for review.

Following the election, the sitting Council will canvass the returns during a public meeting and the qualified person receiving the highest number of votes in each race will be sworn into office for a two-year term (through May 2026). The last day to register to vote in this election is April 4, 2024.
