Town Councilis dedicated to creating well-rounded, experienced, and professional boards and commissions. Each person’s motivation to serve is unique but they all work to better our community by graciously volunteering their time, talents, and expertise. There are four standing boards on which to serve. Residency is required for P&Z and ZBA but not for CRB or PEDC. Ad hoc committees may be created by the Council, as needed, for projects such as rate studies, plan development, or special events.
Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission- RESIDENCY REQUIRED Commissioners make recommendations to the Council regarding zoning ordinance amendments, rezoning, planned developments, special use permits, and platting. Community Relations Board (CRB) CRB plans annual events including “Eggcellent” Easter, Movies in the Park, National Night Out, Public Safety Appreciation, Trunk-or-Treat, and “A Pantego Christmas”. Zoning Board of Adjustments (ZBA)- RESIDENCY REQUIRED This quasi-judicial body is a deciding (rather than advisory) board that considers requests for variances or exceptions to zoning requirements or other development standards.
No matter where you are in life, these boards are a great way to be involved, get to know your neighbors better, and help shape the future of the Town. You can apply online or submit your application (PDF) at Town Hall (1614 S Bowen Road) or by emailing the City Secretary. Though appointments to the various boards and commissions are typically made by the Town Council in the spring, you are invited to apply at any time and staff will maintain your application until the Council's next review.
