Official proclamations from the Office of the Mayor are issued to honor a person, special cause, or an event that reflects positively upon the Town. Proclamations may also be presented at a ribbon cutting or Grand Opening of a new business. The proclamations are a one-page document from the Office of the Mayor that are issued at no charge and prepared by the City Secretary. Proclamations are issued at the Mayor's discretion.
There are three types of Town of Pantego proclamations and you may request one online using this web page:
How to apply
Requests for proclamations should be made in writing to the City Secretary’s Office at least 10 working days in advance of when it is needed:
Town of Pantego
Attn - City Secretary
1614 S. Bowen Rd.
Pantego, TX 76013
Or by email to the City Secretary
Typically, only one proclamation is issued for each event, and duplicate originals are not provided. Requests should provide the following information:
The Mayor is frequently invited to present a proclamation at an event and, if unavailable, may request another Councilmember to make the presentation. The proclamation may be picked up by the person or organization requesting it as well if no presentation is required. Presentations by the Mayor during a Town Council meeting are to be placed on the agenda at the Mayor's discretion.
The Mayor's issuance of a proclamation does not constitute an endorsement.
Ribbon Cuttings, Grand Openings or Groundbreaking Ceremonies
The Mayor and Town Council are always pleased to take part in welcoming new businesses to the Town by supporting either a Ribbon Cutting, a Grand Opening or a Groundbreaking Ceremony. If your company is planning on opening, has recently opened, has moved to a new location, or expanded its current locations, the Town staff will work to help promote your event via the Town's website and Facebook page. The following criteria must be met:
Tips for a successful Ribbon Cutting, Grand Opening or Groundbreaking Ceremony
The More the Merrier…
While the Town invites elected officials and PEDC Directors, we encourage businesses to invite clients, vendors, neighboring businesses, family and friends to ribbon cuttings. This is not only to have a large gathering for photo opportunities, it enables the business to showcase its assets to more people in the community.
Celebrate and Decorate…
Celebrate this great event by having festive décor—balloons and company signage not only draw attention to your business, they bring a celebratory spirit to the ceremony and make it easier for attendees to locate your business.
Chips, Dip and Everything in Between…
Since celebrations traditionally take place during the lunch hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., we encourage member businesses to have refreshments, snacks, cake, etc., for attending guests. This also adds to the flair of the event!
Give guests a brief tour of your company and explain its function. You may never know what this can do for making business contacts in the future!
